For the duration of the school year, the Caritas team of psycho-social support, who is active at the Presevo refugee center, focused part of their activities on the refugee children who attended the regular school. Caritas was one of the organizations that participated in accompanying children to school, as well as providing support and assistance to them, as well as teachers in the learning process. The task of the members of the Caritas team was to establish a link between teachers and school leaders in order to pay more attention to each child. In addition, the members of the Caritas team assisted children every day in writing homework and learning, as well as preparing for school events in which these children participated.
Education support was not the only Caritas activity for children in Presevo. During the week, members of the psycho-social support team organized art workshops, where children had the opportunity to present imaginative drawings on a free or custom subject, which was often in line with the change of seasons, significant holidays, cartoons watched or the lessons that they dealt with. The idea was to strenghten creativity in children within this artistic corner, so often plastic, cardboard, colored paper made very interesting figures, that decorate Caritas’ work space.
With the advent of spring a part of Caritas’s activities with children is organized in the open, where, using the facilities of the playground in the camp, various games and sports activities are designed.
Caritas’ activities for children at the Preševo Refugee center are being implemented as part of a project funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany and Caritas Germany.
