Representatives of EU Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid – ECHO visited the Reception center for the refugees and migrants Presevo on Wednesday 26th of June and were introduced with the functioning of this center, as well as with the work of Caritas, which is responsible for the complete food distribution in the centers Presevo and Bujanovac, together with Philanthropy – charity organization of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The project of food distribution to refugees in the south of Serbia is financed by ECHO.

The members of the delegation expressed their satisfaction with the quality of food and the system of distribution of meals. The food that Caritas is providing is being prepared by the social enterprise “Tradicija juga“ from Vranje, which employs persons from socially vulnerable groups, for which is difficult to find jobs: single mothers, victims of violence, persons over 50 years old, persons that lost their job in the privatization process. This way Caritas is helping not only the refugees, but also the local population and the development of the local economy. The meeting was concluded with a common lunch in the premises of this enterprise in Vranje.
