With the support of the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) from May of this year Caritas and Philantropy are covering the distribution of all meals in the reception centers for refugees Presevo and Bujanovac.

The food that we are distributing is prepared by the social enterprise “Tradicija juga”, which was established by the Humanitarian organization “Life Aid” from Vranje.

“Tradicija juga” employs persons from vulnerable groups, for which is difficult to find jobs, like single mothers, victims of violence, persons that lost jobs in the privatization process, persons over 50 years old. Thanks to the engagement in preparing meals for refugees this social enterprise was able to grow and now it employs twice as more people than before. 

Since the beginning of the refugee crisis in 2015 Caritas was distributing food in the Reception center Presevo, starting from food parcels, then warm soup during the cold months. In March of 2016, when the Balkan route was closed Caritas started distributing warm meals. “Tradicija juga” was our partner from the very beginning, providing warm and tasty meals, prepared with lot of care and attention.
